Canva Tutorial: Text Effect Animation

Text effect animation Canva tutorial

In this tutorial you will learn how to create interesting text effect in Canva and how to take advantage of Canva animation feature to create video content.

This image above displays final result after text effect is created and also final video section.

Animation will start with entire text scrolling from right side of the screen to the center. While scrolling letters will change its appearance. If letter is over forest image it will be hollowed, if letter is above green background it will be filled with color.

Sound good? Let’s get started.

Create new design, set any size (I used 600×500) and add any background color.

In Elements find Frame letter U. Add it to the page.

Scale it until only two columns are left (like the once on image above).

You can use two letters I to achieve same effect.

Add the text you want. Copy the text and duplicate it.

On duplicate apply Hollow text effect. Send only original text to back, behind the Frame letter. Center both texts (don’t group them).

Now when you try to move both texts at the same time notice how letters in front of the forest are hollow and outside of the forest are filled. That’s what we were trying to achieve.

For animation there is not much to explain if you have ever done any animation in Canva.

Move both texts (perfectly centered) on the right side of the page until no letter is visible.

Set duration to 1 second and copy the page. On next page move text a little bit on the left. Set duration to 0.1 seconds.

Repeat this process until texts are centered on the page. For last page set duration to 3 seconds.
